Schottlander have produced three films to inspire and inform the Clinician, Technician and Patient. These films show the work and teaching of Dr John Besford and Mrs Ruth Bourke who also advised on the development of the Enigma Cosmetic Denture System. These programs are intended to give you a better understanding of the underlying principles of prosthetics, and to inspire you to create the most natural looking dentures.
The Preview Program
This program contains a synopsis of the entire 'A World of
Difference' series, giving you a solid understanding of the
quality of these programs.
The Patients Program
This programme gives patients a better understanding of the stages involved
in making dentures including many that they would never normally see.
Through other patients sharing their own experiences on screen they are led
to see the vital role they themselves must play in order for the Clinician to
provide them with dentures that function better and look more natural.
The patients progam is 15 minutes long.

By the end of the programs the participants should better understand:
the underlying principles of prosthetics
how, by involving the patient, the clinical outcome can be improved
how to assess the front tooth position
how to improve their understanding of impression taking including primary,
the French impression, the upper working impression and the lower primary impression
how to better optimize the border seal
when & how to use magnetic attachments
how to improve their knowledge of record rims, measuring the
vertical dimension of the face and checking speech
the purpose of the gothic arch technique and how to apply it
how to check the anterior set up
how to take the retruded (centric) jaw relationship
how to take a face bow record
how to choose teeth and gingival coloration
how to use the follow-up visits to improve patient satisfaction

The Technicians Programs

Part 1 & 2
By the end of the programs the participants should better understand:
how to use patient photographs or casts taken from a relative
to choose the correct width and shape of tooth
the underlying principles of prosthetics in the dental laboratory
how to set-up the anterior teeth
how to set-up the posterior teeth
the different techniques for waxing in natural features including 'S' curves and the
rugae and creating more natural surface effects
the flasking of the denture and in-flask correction
the principles of natural gingival colouring and how to reproduce it in the denture
how to de-flask the denture so that the natural effects that have been created are not
lost in doing so.
